Solaboll™ WINS Energy Product/Service Award
At the recent Environment and Energy Awards, Pudsey Diamond Engineering Ltd. came off top, scooping the 'Energy Product/Service' Award. This award recognises the development of products that are sustainable, energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Solaboll™ is a solar powered, retroreflective, self-righting bollard which was developed by Pudsey Diamond Engineering Ltd. to satisfy the ever increasing demands of the infrastructure sector.
Held on Tuesday 24th May at the Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, the event acknowledges the work of leaders across the range of energy and environmental topics and a variety of sectors. Competitors at this year's event included Sainsbury's, Costa Coffee, Marks and Spencer, as well as London Fire Brigade and Sheffield City Council.
The judging is carried out by a number of industry experts, who, based on the judging criteria for each category, carefully select the shortlisted companies and category winners.
With Solaboll™ offering free energy for 6 years, zero CO2 emissions from installation alongside its' passive safety, self-righting capabilities, it is clear that this product deserves its recognition both at the event and in the market.
Awarding the top prize the judges commented " Pudsey Diamond Engineering offer an innovative product that incorporates robust engineering with a stand alone solar energy system. It is simple to make and install and needs the minimum of infrastructure to be effective, and has a large market potential."
Peter Diamond, Managing Director of Pudsey Diamond Engineering, was thrilled and standing alongside a team of employees commented "I am really delighted and proud of the team. A fitting reward for all the time, energy and commitment they put in to develop this great product. This prestigious award is fitting recognition and highlights the need for investment, innovation and development to provide sustainable products demanded in todays climate."
Should all the 400,000 existing lit bollards in the UK be exchanged for the Solaboll™ solar powered bollard, a significant saving of £9 million could be achieved across the board.
